Day 5 Rome
I think it’s Wednesday, but the days are getting a little jumbled up. Sonia and I are wandering around Tastevere, the neighborhood where we’re staying. Jim and Deb have gone to the Vatican. Of the Top 10 places listed in our Rome guide book, I believe we’ve been to 7 or 8. Our days have really been packed. Yesterday we went to the Forum, the Paletine, the Colosseum and Villa Borghese. On Monday, we saw the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, San Clemente and, well, I seem to have forgotten what else.
The weather continues to be perfect. Not only has it not rained; I don’t think we’ve seen a cloud. The temperature gets up to the low 80’s during the day and it’s cool enough at night to need a sweater. We’ve been eating almost all of our meals at outdoor cafes.
Tomorrow we take the train to Cinque Terra, where we’ll stay 2 nights. That’s as far as we’ve booked places to stay. We’ll get out our maps and guidebooks and decide where we want to go for our second week.
It’s all just grand so far.
