A post from Sonia

I haven’t taken the time to do this for awhile, and wish I had!  I’m forgetting what we have done.  I am using my Rome Top Ten book; kind of cheating, but very worthwhile.  We did the Borghese Gallery yesterday and are skipping the Vatican yesterday.  The Vatican is number 1 on the list so I feel like it’s very bad of us, but we just weren’t up for more tourist stuff today.  We will tour our neighborhood, Trastevere, and pull ourselves together for the rest of the trip.

Rome seems even more fashion conscious than Paris, oddly enough.  For those of you looking for a new trend, hotpants appear to be making a comeback.  And even if the temperatures are in the 80s, Ugh boots are popular as well as high leather boots with lots of buckles.

We spent hours at the Forum and Coleseum yesterday.  The Coleseum looks amazingly like a current sports arena!  We continue to be surprised at how much access we have to the ancient stuff!  Sitting around on chunks of BC pillars to look at our maps and all!  But on to see some churches and things in the Trastevere area, close to our little home.  Our landlady lives next door, and seems to be sort of a neighborhood fixture.  She doesn’t speak any English, but we have managed to communicate what we need to anyway.  I think.

Hoping we can post some pictures later - see you all in a couple of weeks!  Sonia
